Mission / Story
Chapman has been providing nonprofits with complete peace of mind for over 35 years. Our mission has been to provide social service agencies with world class protection and care. We have focused exclusively on the needs of nonprofits to find the right solutions tailored for our clients.

Chapman was founded by industry leader Terry Chapman in 1973. Although Chapman started small, the family-run company quickly evolved to the forefront of its field due to both client service and innovative policies.

Terry Chapman became active in support of policies and coverage for nonprofit organizations. He is regarded as an authority with a coauthored book, Am I Covered For ...? A Comprehensive Guide to Insuring Your Nonprofit Organization, often referred to as "The Nonprofit-Insurance Bible." The renowned book, now in its third edition, features essential information on the unique insurance needs of the nonprofit community.

In 1997, Terry's son Greg joined the Chapman team after working three years as an underwriter for Chubb Insurance Company and three years for Swett & Crawford, a national surplus lines casualty broker. Graduating Cum Laude from the University of San Diego with a BA in International Political Economy, Greg went on to receive an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at USC. He holds an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) degree, a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Currently Greg is also an esteemed faculty member at The Center for Nonprofit Management in Los Angeles and Sacramento. In 1999, Greg was named president of Chapman and, following his father’s great legacy, he actively manages the relationships with our insurance carriers and oversees the specialized insurance programs for our clients.

Under Greg's leadership, Chapman has continued to grow, becoming the leading provider of nonprofit insurance-brokerage services. Chapman now represents over 2,200 social service agencies throughout the western United States.

Chapman recognizes that you do your best to serve the world and therefore, should demand the best in those serving you.
