 | Jim Sprifke, CIC, Vice President Jim has been in the insurance industry since 1982, providing programs and services to nonprofit clients throughout California. In 1991 Jim established the original Foster Parent Liability program in California. Over the years Jim has gained extensive experience consulting with insurance company underwriters, defense attorneys, and nonprofit associations on coverage issues pertaining to social services professional liability. He is based in our Lodi office and serves clients statewide. Jim is a graduate of UC-Davis with a B.A. in International Relations and holds the Certified Insurance Counselor designation.

 | Mike Smith, CIC, CLU, ChFC, Vice President With experience in insurance, finance and real estate, Mike works with our clients to improve their insurance programs and helps facilitate connections to other needed business services. Mike attended Loyola High School and graduated from USC with a B.S. in Business Administration. He has also earned the designations of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Charter Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). He has served as a faculty member at The Center of Nonprofit Management and the Long Beach Nonprofit Partnership and is an active community supporter with his involvement in the Order of Malta, Mater Dolorosa Retreat Center, Mayfield Junior School and the Society of the Friendly Son’s of St. Patrick.

 | Nelson DeBasa, Vice President Nelson DeBasa entered the insurance business in 1992 after participating in the Arthur J. Gallagher internship program where he had the opportunity to work with over 300 nonprofit organizations. He joined Chapman in 2006 and has taken a hands-on approach to identifying the needs of his clients to provide them with the best possible coverage. Nelson graduated from the UC-Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Political Science, emphasis on International Relations. He currently sits on the Board of St. Vincent de Paul of Alameda County and serves as the Chair of the Development and Disaster Preparedness Committee for this organization. Nelson resides in Oakland, CA and is married with two young children.

 | Stephanie Dufour, Vice President After working in the nonprofit community for 8 years, Stephanie transitioned into the world of insurance. She joined a small agency in 2003 and developed a social service program that expanded quickly. Stephanie is passionate about homeless prevention, environmental awareness and the development of social enterprises and currently serves on the board of The Domino Health Foundation. She has taught insurance and risk management workshops at the local volunteer and law centers and has participated in numerous community-building-forums including The Consulting Professionals to Nonprofits, The Association of Fundraising Professionals and The Social Enterprise Alliance. Stephanie resides in Huntington Beach with her husband and five children and enjoys surfing.

 | Tim DePriest, ARM, Senior Vice President Tim DePriest was recently promoted to Senior Vice President of Chapman. Tim assists our clients in reviewing their current insurance programs, identifying further coverages that may be appropriate and anticipating their needs for other services. Tim's previous experience with the Chubb Insurance Company and the Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group allows him to facilitate connections between Chapman clients and other sources of business services. Tim graduated with honors from UC-Santa Barbara with a B.A. in Business Economics in 1987. He went on to earn his MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. In addition to his degrees, Tim holds an Associate Degree in Risk Management.

 | Tom Flanagan, Vice President Upon graduating from UC-Santa Barbara in 1998, Tom Flanagan began his career in international film sales. He joined Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Brokerage Company as an Investment Associate in 2002 and then moved to NAI Capital Commercial as Vice President in 2006. In 2008, Tom became Vice President of Chapman. He is committed to understanding his clients’ specific requirements and doing all he can to assist them in achieving their objectives. Tom is an active participant in various social projects which he supports, and is a dedicated member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.

 | Troy Winkles, Senior Vice President Troy Winkles was recently promoted to Senior Vice President of Chapman. He began his career in the insurance industry in 1993 after graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in Risk Management. He then gained experience at Marsh, the world’s largest insurance broker, developing specialized insurance policies for high-tech and bio-tech firms. Troy joined Chapman in 1999 to manage the Oakland office. Under his guidance, the Bay Area office has doubled in size with total written annual premiums now exceeding $15 million. Troy is extremely active in the Community Clinic field and works directly with more than 50 clinics. He resides in Lafayette, California and is married with three young children.

 | Alyson Sayuk, Vice President Alyson graduated from St. Mary's College in 2000 with a B.A. in English. She immediately entered the insurance industry and obtained her life and health insurance license. Alyson worked in sales and service for two insurance carriers, specializing in dental, life and disability insurance. She then worked at a general agency, assisting insurance brokers with the sales, implementaion and servicing of insurance for their clients. Alyson joined Chapman in April of 2008. Her responsibilities include assisting clients with the marketing, implementation and servicing of their employee benefits plans.
