In these difficult times of budget cuts at both the Federal and State level, it is clear that all sectors of the nonprofit community will be substantially affected in one form or another. However, it appears that some segments of the nonprofit sector will be more dramatically impacted than others.
In an inital survey conducted last month by Chapman of a wide cross section of our nonprofit partners, it seems that adult mental health programs will be hit the hardest. As a result of these cuts, children's support services by mental health centers will also be affected. Severe cuts are also in the works for Adult Day Health Care programs and while most funds are guaranteed for pre-school and Head Start programs through December, ongoing funding past the end of the year is currently up in the air.
As we learn more about the greater implications that budget cuts will have on the nonprofit community, we will continue to share this information.
