Chapman provides a variety of products to suit the insurance needs of nonprofit organizations. Explore some of the coverage offerings we provide:
Automobile Insurance If your nonprofit agency owns vehicles, you should be insured on an auto policy with recommended limits of at least $1,000,000. Additional coverage may also be added to the policy, such as no fault medical payments, coverage for passengers, uninsured motorist protection, underinsured motorist protection, and comprehensive and collision coverage. Non-owned and hired auto coverage may also be added to the policy to protect your organization if a vehicle, not owned by the agency but driven on its behalf, is involved in an accident and bodily injury or property damage results.
Commercial Property
Your nonprofit needs the protection of property insurance to insure such things as buildings, personal property, computers, and loss of income. Chapman has recommendations on how to best insure your nonprofit against most perils, as well as purchase the right amount of coverage for your needs. Contact us for more information.
Commercial General Liability
Claims for bodily injury, property damage, personal injury (libel, slander, defamation of character) and products liability are covered by commercial general liability insurance. Chapman can advise on who should be named on the policy for maximum coverage and the best coverage limits for your nonprofit organization.
Computer Equipment Floater
Chapman recommends that your nonprofit organization’s computer hardware be insured on a computer floater endorsement, which can be added to your property policy. This is better than insuring your computers as business personal property, since the floater coverage can cover hardware, data and media, and computer extra expense.
Crime Coverage
Your nonprofit organization can purchase various crime coverages including embezzlement of property belonging to the organization, cash stolen or otherwise destroyed, and forgery or alteration of checks issued by the agency.
Directors’ & Officers’ Liability
Also known as D&O coverage, this insurance protects board members, the corporation, its employees and volunteers, for types of claims that are not covered by general liability and professional liability. These claims include wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, and failure to promote. Since no two D&O policies are alike, it is important to closely examine the terms and conditions of your policy. Chapman can help determine your needs and develop a D&O policy that is tailored to your organization.
Loss of Income and Extra Expense
Your nonprofit organization can purchase coverage to replace lost income in the event that a fire puts your agency out of business or reduces the scope of its operations. Chapman can assist in providing coverage that will keep your agency in business after such a catastrophic event.
Professional Liability Insurance
This coverage is needed any time a social service agency is offering professional advice, providing counseling, or rendering hands-on medical or dental treatment. Properly written, this coverage will provide protection to licensed professionals, para-professionals, and peer counselors and can be added to a general liability or business package policy. However, exclusions apply if medical professionals are providing services as employees, volunteers or independent contractors. Contact us for more information about this coverage and what your organization will need to ensure peace of mind.
Umbrella Liability Insurance
The most cost effective way to buy higher limits of liability insurance is with an umbrella liability policy. This policy extends the limits of your basic general, auto, and employer’s liability (and professional liability in some cases) to whatever higher limit you might require. Chapman can suggest the best plan for your nonprofit.
Workers’ Compensation Insurance
State law mandates that all employers, including nonprofit organizations, provide workers’ compensation benefits for all employees. The policy pays medical bills relating to employee related accidents and/or sicknesses, and also includes disability and life insurance.
